{Sponsored} Bio-essence Royal Jelly + ATP V-Face Series – 3 Treasures

It has been a long time since I have done any product review, due to a pimple outbreak caused by a product which I have used. My ROM date is drawing near, and I’m glad to be given a chance to review the 3 treasures in the Bio-essence Royal Jelly + ATP V-Face series! Hopefully my face will be sharper on the big day ;)

Bio-essence Skincare regime for younger looking, V-shaped face -

(1) Deep Cleansing Milk with Royal Jelly & ATP

(2) Deep Exfoliating Gel with Royal Jelly & ATP

(3) Nourishing Deep Cleanser with Royal Jelly & ATP / Nourishing Foamy Cleanser with Royal Jelly & ATP

(4) Deep Nourishing Toner with Royal Jelly & ATP

(5) Radiant Youth Essence with Royal Jelly & ATP

(6) Face Lifting Cream with Royal Jelly & ATP

Star ingredients - Royal Jelly which has advance anti-ageing effects and ATP (energy source) which helps to improve micro-circulation to renew and repair skin.

I was given the 3 treasures of this new series to try out, and they are the Deep Exfoliating Gel, the Radiant Youth Essence and the Face Lifting Cream.

Deep Exfoliating Gel

This product, on top of the Royal Jelly & ATP, contains Angelica and Wolfberry extracts which provide nutrients and vitamins for nourishing your skin. It is a mild and gentle exfoliator which can be used daily.

The gel reminds me of a certain exfoliating gel I used back in my JC days. It works in the same way – apply to dry skin and massage in a circular motion until small flakes of dead skin and dirt appear. Then, rinse off with water and use a cleanser. I’m pretty charmed by the Bio-essence Deep Exfoliating Gel with Royal Jelly & ATP because it simply works; my skin feels very smooth and looks refined after using this gel for just a couple of days in a row. After using it for a longer time, I’m convinced that daily usage will reduce the formation of black heads and pimples as the dead skin and dirt will not be able to build up.

Radiant Youth Essence

The essence contains green tea extracts on top of other great ingredients to slow down aging. It claims to help lock in moisture and keep skin soft, smooth and healthy.

When I first tried out this product, I was very shocked at the oily texture. It’s so oily that I consider washing it off. But after reading the directions once more, I decide to massage it into my skin and wait for the essence to be absorbed. Thankfully, the absorption was good, and my face didn’t end up looking like an oil slick. I haven’t used it long enough to experience the anti-aging benefits, but this essence definitely helps in makeup application. Normally, when I use foundation, I will notice that there are drier areas on my face where the foundation cake up, creating a powdery look. I hate it when that happens! But after using the youth essence, I noticed that this problem has lessened, perhaps because of the moisturizing effect it provides. So, kudos to this, my favourite product out of the 3 products I have received.

I also tried using the essence on my arms and legs, especially since I have dry skin at those area and I don’t want to look scaly on my wedding day. On my arms and legs, the essence gets absorbed super fast, so I’m guessing my skin at those areas is really dry and thirsty!

Face Lifting Cream

One interesting ingredient used in this cream is the Bio Rice Fermentation Essence. Doesn’t this remind you of the SK II Piteria, which is also from rice? (In fact, the steam from steamed rice is extremely nourishing for our face, so, do steam your face with that whenever you open up a pot of freshly steamed rice!)

I haven’t actually notice any visible slimming or tightening of my skin after using this lifting cream, but I guess this will not be an overnight process. What I like about this cream is that it’s very easily absorbed by the skin and doesn’t cause any shine. It’s a great moisturizer to be used in the day before makeup application. Hopefully, the V-shape effect will happen over time. :)

Korea – May/June 2012 – {Part 3}

Sep 10, 2012 by
in Footprints on earth, Oh the things of beauty

Seoul is really an emporium of cosmetics and beauty products. I came home with a large suitcase filled to the brim with cosmetics and other beauty products. It is scary, the way we bought without much thinking. Well, looking at all the great skin on the Koreans, you can’t help but feel that if you use their products, you will end up with the same wonderful, crystal clear skin as well. On top of that, the prices are fabulous – if you compare it with the marked-up prices back home. Oh, and did I mention the free gifts and the out-of-the-blue storewide discounts?

All there to trap you. Your mind. Your wallet. Your money.

Apart from hot favourites like ladies’ skincare from Laneige, The Face Shop, Innisfree, and Skinfood, we also found some quirky items – quirky only in a Singapore-context – makeup for males.

Camo cream for the guys serving the nation!

In army-friendly colours.

We didn’t buy that, but we bought some BB cream for men. They were surprisingly good on J’s skin – the light cream blended nicely on his skin and matches his skin tone perfectly, giving him some really good skin when he wore that!

Well, too bad he isn’t hooked onto the BB cream, if not we could both put makeup together before going out! ;)

{Sponsored} Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Lotion and SHA Moisturizing Eye Cream

Aug 13, 2012 by
in Adverts, Oh the things of beauty, Reviews

Many thanks to Hada Labo, I am able to review and share with you 2 fantastic products today. I’m so excited to share them that I don’t know where to start! ;)

Hada Labo is a skincare line researched and developed by Rohto Pharmaceutical Co. Japan and The Mentholatum Co. It has a philosophy of ‘Perfect X Simple’. Hada Labo uses only the purest of ingredients that are beneficial to the skin, with no unnecessary additives and manufacture their products under strict pharmaceutical standards.

A few days ago, I received a cute package for Hada Labo, consisting of the SHA Hydrating Lotion with new nano formula, as well as the SHA Moisturizing Eye Cream. I am wow-ed on the first use, and now, I am going to tell you how great they are!

Before I start, I must first say that Hada Labo really did change my impression of drugstore brands. When I first started a proper skincare regime, I was using Witch products from Watsons. I can’t manage to find the entire range there anymore, but it was great for my then-young skin. I also did try the Clean & Clear range, as well as some other cheap drugstore brands (but eventually, Witch proved to be the best). After that, when I have more disposable income, I tried fancier brands, like ettusais, Clinique, Chanel, etc. Most didn’t work for my skin except for Clinique and now, Jurlique. They are expensive, and so, I have always have been trying to see if I can find a brand which is cheaper and yet can deliver as well.  There came Hada Labo, and I was very impressed. You don’t need a million steps (think Korean skincare) to get the same dewy, soft skin. And best of all, you can find it at drugstores near your house, and they are very affordable – nothing over S$40, I think. I don’t know how else to say how much I love this brand – you will have to try it out, to understand how wonderful it really is.

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid (SHA) Hydrating Lotion (with new nano formula)

The new hydrating lotion contains of a cocktail of 3 different types of hyaluronic acid, and they are the Nano Hyaluronic Acid (with molecules that are 1/20 the size of the normal hyaluronic acid, to enable easy penetration into the skin for deep hydration), the Super Hyaluronic Acid (yes, this is the SHA which is in almost all Hada Labo products, and it has twice the moisture retention capacity of the normal HA, and can keep the skin hydrated and smooth for a longer period of time) and the Hyaluronic Acid (the HA, which is able to hold 6 litres of water in 1gm, to effectively lock-in moisture on the skin).

These 3 hyaluronic acids work together to deeply penetrate the skin to nourish and help to restore the skin’s barrier to prevent moisture loss.

If you still do not know what the hydrating lotion is, well, it’s simply the toner. You are supposed to use it after cleansing your face and before slapping on moisturizer. Just gently pat it onto your skin until fully absorbed.

The first time I tried the old Hydrating Lotion, I felt that it moisturizes well, but was a bit too viscous for absorption. As a result, I always notice a sheen when I use too much of it, prompting me to only use the lotion at night. With the new nano formula, the lotion is very very light. It’s much less viscous, and hence it gets absorbs fully very fast – I can apply alot (for experimental purporses!), and it still get into my skin fast, leaving no sheen or stickiness. It also moisturizes the skin to the same extent -think bouncy and soft skin! Needless to say, I was sold. I am using this bottle daily now!

I would recommend this to everyone – those who are tired of using expensive brands with no visible results and those who are young and are just starting to have a proper skincare regime. You wouldn’t go wrong with Hada Labo – it has fantastic moisturizing properties (say goodbye to fine lines and oily T-zones) and you can get them all at wallet-friendly prices. Hello Kitty Mania

Jul 19, 2012 by
in Life as it is, Oh the things of beauty

I love dogs more than cats, with the exception of Hello Kitty, the world’s most-loved kitty with no mouth!

My relationship with Hello Kitty started back when I was a young girl. I remember my dad buying me Hello Kitty products whenever he is in Japan for business. My friends also did give me cutesy Hello Kitty gifts.

Many years on, my love for it is still as strong.

Look at my latest additions to my collection:

Cute, aren’t they? :)

Last Thursday, while having a girly day out with XY, I bought a bag from H&M for a steal! It’s price reduced – only $30!

I’m loving it – roomy, slouchy and chic.
